Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats

The perfect snack that is salty and sweet.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows (16-ounce)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 cups Rice Krispies


  • Grease a 9x13-inch pan and set aside.
  • In a large nonstick stock pot, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until butter turns a deep golden color and you see a few dark flecks. Add the marshmallows and salt, and stir until marshmallows are completely melted. Remove from heat and fold in Rice Krispies until well coated.
  • Optional- Stir in a handful of marshmallows, once Rice Krispies have been added for just a little bit more gooeyness.
  • Transfer mixture to prepared pan and place parchment paper on top and push down until even. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve. Can be stored in an airtight container.
