I remember back when I worked retail sales, one of the steps to make a customer feel more comfortable with you as a sales person is to welcome them and then compliment them. I hated this, it felt like it could come off as insincere or trying to hard. But I think at the time I hated receiving compliments myself which in turn makes it hard to give them out. Also, remember during this period I was probably in one of the worst mental states of my time. But, I have been working hard on giving complements and accepting them with just a thank you and not a deflect. I am realizing that the more you compliment yourself, the more you give yourself positive affirmations, the easier it is to give freely and receive them.

But what if you take this a step further and you talk to yourself the way you care for, encourage and compliment the important people in your life.
.
Everyone is talking about self care or self love and most times it’s talked about in ways of doing a physical act. But it can be as simple as giving yourself a compliment. Be as encouraging to yourself as you are to a friend or even a stranger for that matter. Give yourself that same love and kindness that you give out. ✨
