Having go to instagram worthy spots in your hometown in a must. Which is why I created The 10 Best Instagram Worthy Walls in YXH. Personally I know I am always attracted to finding murals or fun colored walls in other cities when I travel but why haven’t I ever taken advantage of my own backyard.
Probably because Medicine Hat is so small chances are someone you know will see you posing funny or awkwardly taking a selfie. It’s totally true it will happen but you know what? You will probably have a ton of fun doing it and everyone that sees you won’t even think twice.
We are so fortunate in Medicine Hat to have Mural Fest, they organize the addition of art to many local buildings in town. Of course, the week after we took theses pictures Mural Fest started and now there are even more walls coming. Stay tuned for a Part 2 this fall.
So grab your best gal pal or instagram partner, and go on a little adventure to find The 10 Best Instagram Worthy Walls in YXH. Or if you’re just visiting what a great way to see some historic areas of Medicine Hat while making some fun memories. Make sure to start off the adventure by grabbing an ice coffee from my favourite coffee shop Station, you won’t regret it.
Note: The photos of just the walls are not edited – as I wanted you to be able to see the true colors of the paints incase you were planning outfits accordingly
1. Deluxe Taxi Mural
656 3rd Street SE
This wall is huge, which is great because it gives you lots to work with. Make sure you time this wall accordingly as we were here at 6:30pm and you can see there is some reflection from the windows across the alley.
There is two beautifully different brick walls right across the alley from this mural.
2. Corner of 3rd St and S.Railway St
This mural is also long, which gives you multiple sections to work with. I love all the different tones of purple in this piece.
3. Beside purple mural – S.Railway
How fun is this simple geometric piece. It will easily add a little bit of texture to any photo.
4. Walking tunnel entrance – S.Railway
If you are local to Medicine Hat you have probably heard of the We are in this together heart from Boylan Imaging. My sister really loves the meaning and we knew we had to take a picture with it. How adorable did these turn out?!
5. Women’s Shelter Mural – Station Coffee Co.
This mural went up last year and we have already used it a few times. It is so pretty and we absolutely love all the colors in it. If you want to take a bigger picture you will need to just be mindful of the parking signs or be amazing at photoshop.
6. Shut Up N Wear It – East Facing Wall
While this wall looks to be a plain grey/blue wall we quickly realized that it can be effortlessly edited. Obviously you would have to coordinate your outfit but you can easily switch it to a beautiful turquoise or lilac color.
Directly across from the grey/blue wall are three other great options. You have the horizontal wood, the steal blue and the dark teal + a door.
7. Walking Tunnel Entrance – N.Railway
I can not get enough of this color combo. Here you will have to get a little more creative as the walls height changes but what a good way to try something new.
8. Couture Hair – Corner of N.Railway St and Braemar St SE
This beautiful memorial wall was just completed and I knew this was an easy addition this list. Who wouldn’t want to pose in front of the beautiful butterfly.
9. Corner of Aberdeen St & 6th Ave
This is probably one of my favourite places in Medicine Hat. I have a weakness for brick and vines. This spot has so much versatility and a beautiful view. When you are here do be mindful as this is someones home.
10. Walking Bridge – Kensington Entrance
Okay so I know this isn’t a wall but it had to add it to this list. This little hidden gem is a beautiful attraction that you must visit! While you’re there you may as well take some beautiful pictures. This was last on our stops so we hit it just at the right lighting. Again be mindful as this is in a residential area.
Guys, thanks so much for taking the time to check out my blog. I hope you loved it as much as I loved making it. If you’re curious as to why my sister is wearing scrubs – Check out this post.
